Biography
Muhammad Zeeshan Nasar is a type designer, digital calligraphy expert, and researcher with over 20 years of experience in Arabic, Urdu, and multilingual font development. He specializes in classical and modern scripts, smart typesetting, and advanced OpenType technologies.
Zeeshan is the founder of Mehr Type, a multilingual type foundry dedicated to high-quality Arabic-script fonts. His Nastaliq font is one of the most widely used on the internet, and his portfolio includes typefaces in Nastaliq, Pakistani Naskh, Ottoman Naskh, IndoPak Naskh, Kufi, Fatimid, Thuluth, Ruqʿah, and Square Kufic styles. His fonts feature contextual alternates, ligatures, kerning, variable font support, and complex script handling.
He has also worked on Quranic font systems, including Arabic color fonts and advanced variable fonts for both IndoPak and Ottoman scripts. His work bridges the gap between classical calligraphy and modern typography.
